Lord, Let me be a channel of thy peace,
That where there is hatred, I may bring love
Where there is wrong, I may bring the spirit of forgiveness
Where there is discord, I may bring harmony
Where there is error, I may bring truth
Where there is doubt, I may bring faith
Where there is despair, I may bring hope
Where there are shadows, I may bring light
Where there is sadness, I may bring joy.
Lord, grant that I may seek rather to comfort, than to be comforted
To understand, that to be understood
To love, than to be loved.
For it is by self-forgetting that one finds
It is by forgiving that one is forgiven.
It is by dying that one awakens to enternal life.
Amen

You are so welcome...I used to know this prayer in my sleep and I couldnt for the life of me remember it...I had to look it up!! This version is a bit different from the original, but its my favorite.
Praying that I can help others is always a part of my daily requests from God. Ive learned that when we take care of others, GOD comes in and takes care of us....
Glad you liked it...
Love and prayers,
Lauri

Thanks, as well, from me, Lauri.

This is also one of my favorites, and I heard it at a friend's funeral memorial a short time ago. It was shared at the funeral of a women who had been a Nurse on a Cardiac Transplant Team all her life.

For some reason, I could not recall who the author was afterwards.

I'm going to type it up, print it, and stick it on my fridge for a daily reminder.

This Forum is helpful in so many ways. Very Happy

Take care,

Lori

As soon as I saw this topic, I was immediately drawn to it.
I have a St. Francis statue in my back garden.
It gives me peace every time that I look at it.
I just wanted to post the Serenity Prayer in it's entirety...a friend gave me a copy a few weeks ago and it really is lovely. I had only ever heard the "short" version.
God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.
Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking, as He did, this sinful world as it is, not as I would have it;
Trusting that He will make all things right if I surrender to His Will;
That I may be reasonably happy in this life and supremely happy with Him
Forever in the next.
Best wishes all!

The Prayers - St. Francis

Has been put to music, I used to sing it in the church quior when I was much younger and had a sweet voice Laughing

It's the most beautiful song I ever had the pleasure of singing.

Thank you for reminding me of that. I'm going to google and see if I can find a sound track for it.

PS I still sing like a bird ( a vulture is a bird Laughing )
