I know that we've had this concern before, but here I go again. Has anyone heard from ILoveHistory? The last post that I've seen from her was Dec. 18. I know that she was really ill, and I do hope that she's ok.

I know, we're concerned too - hope she's on a good vacation! _________________ ~"I find hope in the darkest of days, and focus in the brightest. I do not judge the universe." (Dalai Lama) |

I remember that she was at risk of seizures, so her mom wasn't letting her near a computer screen (the lights, apparently.) Maybe that's getting in the way of her logging on. Sure hope it's nothing more....she's had a plateful for one so very young. _________________ "Always laugh when you can. It is cheap medicine." Lord Byron |

Hi Everyone!
How are you all doing?
I've been in and out of Hospital and doctor's rooms SO much recently, that I haven't been able to log in! I've really missed you guys and am SO happy to be back! Thank you all so very much for your concern.
Well, I am FINALLY in remission from Ulcerative Colitis! I also had a Gastroscopy recently, which was AWFUL (I was not asleep) and five biopsies were taken, which all came out normal! So, the Gastroenterologist increased my G.E.R.D. (Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease) meds from 20mg at night, to 20mg before breakfast, 20mg before lunch, 20mg before supper and 40mg before bed, which is working brilliantly!
However, the big problem at the moment is my bladder. I was diagnosed on Friday afternoon with Bladder Dyssynergia (by my Urologist), which, unfortunately, is apparently quite serious. I had a very large amount of white blood cells in my urine, so he's sent it away to the lab. because "at this point, it may be significant or it may not be." If there's an infection or some other simple problem, he'll treat it first and then we'll move onto treating the Dyssynergia. Here are some websites with information on Dyssynergia:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bladder_sphincter_dyssynergia
http://americanmedicalsystems.com/conditions_detail_objectname_mens_desd.html
http://www.medcyclopaedia.com/library/topics/volume_vii/b/bladder_sphincter_dyssynergia.aspx
http://faculty.washington.edu/momus/PB/neurogen.htm
I started my final and most important year of school last week on Wednesday and managed to go to school on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, as well as attend an important school function on Thursday evening.
Keep well!
Regards
IloveHistory |

So good to hear from you ILoveHistory!
You're in my prayers and thoughts about the bladder issue. (Note I didn't try to spell it...) Sounds painful and frightening. My hopes for you that the tests come back OK, and that all will be well.
May this most important year of school go brilliantly! _________________ ~"I find hope in the darkest of days, and focus in the brightest. I do not judge the universe." (Dalai Lama) |

ILoveHistory;
Congratulations on your remission, on your successful three days at school and at a school function. I am praying that your bladder problem is one that can be treated and not cause you any more pain or complications.
It was so good to hear from you and please keep us posted about your test results.
Peace and Blessings

I was so happy to read your post...it brings comfort to me when you're among us. It sounds like you're getting great care.

Hey ILoveHistory,
I've been watching for your posts for a long time. It's good to know that you are doing better! Keep posting a note once in a while, so that we don't worry about you. I'll be seeing a top specialist in movement disorders at Baylor Med School on Feb. 25. I'll post about what happened after I get back from Houston.
Bona fortuna in school this semester.

Hi, ILoveHistory - sooo good to hear from you! I'm happy to know that you've had some relief of symptoms - remission is such a sweet word, isn't it? I'll keep you in my prayers as you face yet another new diagnosis. It DOES sound like you have excellent care, and that must be a comfort to you and your family. Being a Mom, I know how much YOUR mom must worry about you, though - I'll keep your Mom in my prayers, too!
Post when you can - we always love to hear from you. You are loved here - part of the family, you know!

Hi Browneyedgirl53, Magistramarla and Mnjodette!
Thank you SO very, very much for your kind words, concern and support!
Yes, I like my Urologist very much. He is very kind and gentle and good at what he does...
I will probably get my urine results back tomorrow, so will let you know...
My Matric Dance (I think it's what you call 'Prom' in the U.S.A.) is coming up on Saturday 23rd February and I'm SO excited! My friend is partnering me and today my mother and I went to choose some material for my dress, which is being made.
Marla: I sincerely hope that your appointment goes well! I will keep you in my prayers...
Keep well! |

Hi Everyone!
My urine results came back clear, so that's really great!
I have managed to go to school every single day for the entire day so far this week (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday), including attending a school function on Tuesday evening and doing community outreach for an hour and a half at a children's Orthopaedic Hospital today!
I'm pretty cross with my G.P. Two weeks ago, I accidentally ingested a large amount of gluten, which I am violently allergic to (I have Celiac Disease). The next day, I began vomitting non-stop at 09:00 a.m. and only stopped at 15:15 because I went to my G.P. to get a Stemetil injection to stop the vomitting, otherwise it probably wouldn't have stopped! The vomitting was so bad that I perforated my oesophagus! Anyway, the injection was given into the upper part of my right buttock/very bottom part of my back. It would appear that my G.P. hit a nerve! Since then, I have been getting continually worsening pain in that area with erythema (redness) and severe itching. It is now sending sharp pains down my right leg (like sciatica) every time I move the leg! I don't know what to do about it?! Does anyone have any advice for me on what might help or what I should do?
Thanking you all.
Keep well! |

Oh... ILoveHistory;
Your good news was so uplifting and now, to have to hear of this bit of bad news. I have no suggestions for the pain, but I wanted to send you a hug and I hope that you get some relief from this new situation!! Perhaps someone else will have some ideas for you! I hope so!
Sending warm cyberhugs!

Hi I love Histyory,
There you are....so many ups coupled with so many downs. You hang in there well for all you have...hugs.
Maybe I can help.. Sciatic nerve....Can you lay on you stomach and look like a pretzel?
Let's say it is the right leg that is affected. Put a pillow under your the right side of your pelvis. Put the pillow so that you are tilted. Right hip higher than left. Now extend your right leg out like a frog, bent too and elevate, and stuff pillows under your thigh and knee.... the same height as the tilted end of your pelvis. That should provide relieve when done properly. I hope I explained it clearly.
A body pillow works best! Or maybe a pillow may not be needed and just pivot your leg out while on your stomach....
Keep working it into positon with the pillows or have you Mum do it, till you find relief.
And another thing you can have someone do while in that position is to rub the cheek in the center with their fist, gently but firmly...moving the fist left right like screwing a bolt into the hole where the sciatic nerve is...it is deep in the cheek muscle.
I used to sleep like that, and also I a massage therapist applied the fist method...but she would manipulate my leg like a bent frog leg while it dangled off the cot. Lifting it above the cot...what a relief. I had two lumbar surgeries, herniated disks. I have permanent sciatic nerve damage....it causes pain down into sole of my foot.
Natural supplement for nerve pain, B6 and manganese. I also dosed with Gabapentin (Neurontin).
Icing the area may help too...
Hugs,
Oluwa |
